Lets run away

let's run away...
where it's just you and me...
with our hands entwined...
walking into the night...

let's run away...
where there's no other being...
where one has never been...
and one has nothing to say...

let's run away...
to a place so far...
and there are just so many stars...
and a moon besides me...
let's run away
where i can kiss you...
just like the rain drop, which falls on the petal...
and embraces it, with a tender passion...

let's run away...
where we become one...
and in a moment of passion, blinded by each other...

let's run away...
where we leave footprints in time...
with each spring of our step...
the moments bounce back...
and rejoice in a puny whirlwind...

let's run away...
so that when there's no feelings...
no thoughts... no words left ...
to each other we'll just have one thing to say:
let's run away...

 - just another one by me...

Rain drops

Now that one of the best monsoons in the history of Delhi is seemingly over, here I am posting a poem which I had written on 19th March 07 (for those who know the importance of the date). A friend came out of the interview room and said that as she had written 'poetry' in the hobbies section of her resume`, she was asked to recite one. Since I too had written the same at that time, but hadn't really memorized anything, I made this one up in a haste...

they fall down with the thunder
while i stand under...
under them i recall my moments...
my moments which make me wonder...
i wonder about my painful past...
a past that pains me beyond tolerance
i wish the drops would wash away the pain
a free soul, i'd like to gain...
but i gained a heart full of guilt
the flashes of lightning make me blink
i close my eyes and my heart sinks
the violent wind rustles up my hair
i don't know why i exist here
when the eyes swell, the vision blurs
but it doesn't fade the agony away...
then the tears mix with the raindrops and
i take heart, for someone weeps with me...

a city called...

where silence is golden and you rarely hear a stereo blaring at top volume from a house;

where there are houses of size bigger than what they should be as per the members they hold;

where each house has to have a garden, in many cases even bigger than the residential unit itself;

where the houses still don't go higher than a ground and maybe a first floor, lending the colonies posh and non-greedy look;

where the houses of Baradari have gardens about 10 times ther size of the bungalow they surround and which would give Lutyen's Bungalow Zone a run for it's money;

where water is still wasted by many;

where if a Sikh boy from Delhi steps out wearing a patka and not a turban, he gets looks as if he were an alien which should be destroyed at that very moment, even by those Sikhs who don't keep hair themselves;

where the colourful turbans give competition to the myriad coloured dupattas;

where the dreaded Punjab policemen wear turbans atop clean shaven faces and get more sneeres by locals than the Delhi boy;

where people rarely honk on streets and do it only when desperately needed unlike Delhi where it's a paranoia and trend rolled into one;

where, on a main road which is barely two lanes wide in total, car drivers would ratherslow doen, and drive around pedestrians and not rudely honk at them;

where the moment someone needy is sensed, he is likely to be swarmed with help;

where the college going crowd can be seen with smiles pasted across their faces, for such is life so easy in there;

where the Bullet is still regarded as a great posession and not for everyone, just like the Hayabusa;

where a lady wearing shades and driving a 2005 Camry is stared at, by a Jeep driving Jatt, in a manner as if her car's wheels just crushed his ego;

where girls and boys don't appear to be wannabes, save for the oversized and ill-fitted goggles they try to carry off;

where the roads have potholes, yet seem to have no effect on the smiles of the local crowds as they drive past them;

where a biker wearing a helmet is ararest of rare case;

where almost all the shopkeepers welcome you with such cheerful attitude, as if you were their only customer, who has come to bail them out of bad business, no matter how big the shop;

where the Gurudwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib stands, with the water of it's sarovar seems to have an energetic life of it's own and where if you take a shortcut to the main complex, you'd hardly be sneered at by those waiting in long queues;

where the Patiala salwar and the girls adorning them seem to complement each other;

where the Patiala salwar is still that - a true Patiala salwar, and not some caricature of a garment made by a tailor from Delhi or Mumbai;

where the choppers from the Patiala Aviation Club are some of those handful of silence-breakers during killingly quiet afternoons;

where some original architecture from decades back still holds itself high, with the homes having a large verandah in the centre and everything else spread around itself, with it's boohes and baariyaans getting more stares than a modernly done kothi next door;

where a migrant labour stuck at a steep phaatak, a railway crossing, wasn't honked at even once, or hurled abuses at, by the occupants of a silver Maruti Suzuki Swift, who waited patiently for a rickshaw puller to push his cart to the other side;

where the lush greens are superbly beautiful and the blend of the old and the new buildings providing it a contrasting magnificence;

where not even a single poster could be found on the walls of two flyovers which had the warning
written there "stick no posters or bills here", as if it were the order of the Raja;

where you don't get any HBO, Star Movies and scores of channels which you take for granted in Delhi, even as the cable operator of Charan Bagh charges 250 a month but can't even provide 25 channels, yet no one bothers coz it's Patiala;

where the local news bulletin is a sorry tale of robot broadcasting and pompous words, and recorded too far ahead in the day, to report the loss of 150 lives in a stampede at the end of the bulletin for less than a minute, while a local woman's recycled junk was senselessly given the second slot and for a good 5 minutes!;

where I found respite in Nutella Ferrero chocolate jam, and chocolates Shirin Asal's Nani, Draste Holland's Milk Pastilles and the best - Van Houten's Whole Fruit And Nuts, ending up eating more chocolate in the 7 days, than I would have in the last seven years :p ;

where I didn't see or hear anyone badly under the influence of Patiala pegs and singing 'main talli ho gaya' leave alone 'gayi'...;

where 'o teri bhen di' was a common sight, if you know what i mean and if you have heard that joke ;) ;

where the Bahadurgarh Fort is a beautiful sight while entering or leaving the city;

where they have a slum cluster, though a neat one, named Dhakka Colony :p ;

where the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is the pride of the city, the state and the nation too;

where at times it is so hard to kill time that you can't do anything but anything.. haha...;

where the Patiala Necklace once used to rest on the maharaja's chest and became the envy of the

whole damn world, so much so, that it inspired a remake by De Beers, a hopeless effort to restore a lost glory;

where the Patiala Necklace, Patiala salwar and the Patiala peg have given the city a distinct edge above the rest of the Punjab, yet the city's subtle nature evokes nothing but admiration amidst all it's pros and cons;

there I was, for 7 days; a city, an experience... called simply - Patiala.

Thanx Nikhil

Watched Harold And Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay at Udit's today, along with Anuj. Did we have a fun time or what? The movie was full of laughs but one of the most enjoyable scenes which I liked was the one where Harold while reversing his car, ends up ruining the party of some blacks on the road, who come forward seemingly to make mincemeat out of them, and the following scene had us three in splits. I think it was one brilliant piece of comedy and the issue of wrong notions about races rolled into one. The whole movie had some pretty good issues turned into hilarious situations. Though Udit says that he didn;t like it as much as the first one, HAK Go To White Castle, but I think just the fact that we had an amazing time today was great.
   Anyways, it was an awesome sight at Kashmere Gate Metro Stn. today with that heavy downpour which I hadn't seen in days together :) And the Maggi noodles which I prepared for these two, combined with Frooti, followed by the discussion and all... aah!! Heaven.. lol!!!  Thanx to Nikhil, big time, for contributing to our fun , wish u were there with us :D Thanx again!!!

Shooting Manik!

I clearly remember having found a great interest in the advertising and the modelling industry, when i was in class 8th. Since then, I would love to rate ads myself, and think about how they could have been made better and all the stuff i usually dreamed of doing one day. Let's say it this way, advertising was one of the things which excited me as much as architecture and delhi metro, the other two things I am crazy about. And as much as Iwould love to get those bigtime expensive cameras used by professional photographers, I had cursed myself innumerable times for not having one until I got my beloved sony ericsson k750i last birthday (precisely Nikhil's b'day-25th sept, 5 days before mine).
    Anyways, Manik (who's like 1 yr behind me in college) and I had never interacted much but when college ended, we would have the usual gtalk chats and once upon a time :p he told me how he was encouraged by one and all to go for the glamour industry. We started talking and led to the verdict that about a month after that day, I'd come over and shoot him, thanx to my love for photography and the fact that I had gone through innumerable male and female portfolios on international sites. He too wanted some time to work on his body. That was in the starting of June, and the shoot was slated for 1st or 2nd week of July, got delayed and delayed and finally yesterday, 30th July, we did it. Out of about 150 pix, we shortlisted 32, and finally 20 were selected, pruned and spruced up for this site, to which I have been addicted for about an year now. I can't boast of having turned up with something on the lines of  a Lope Navo or Subi Samuel, but one thing I can surely say is that Manik did his homework very good, and got the expressions well. Now I just hope someone professional catches him and gives him a real pro port, till then he can bear with the ones we shot yesterday. lol! And we had a blast trying to make all the wierd poses and wardrobe combos. And of course, I was happy about the fact that I worked on someone's port... ha!! So this one's for Mr. Manik Rana, the model - all the best for your stint and I hope you make it big :D ( and in a few minutes from now...) Happy Birthday :)
You can catch his portfolio in here -

Quote of the day

Would you rather be right or free?

Lots of stuff :D

    Went to meet Abhishek today, for probably the last time in a long while from now. The dude is going to Carnegie Mellon, and me and Nikhil'd like to wish him all the best once again for his MS :) Thanx for the treat at Barista ;)
      Finally, I've been able to 'sketch' Supriya, but that's for another entry in here. Lots has happened since the last post here; my swimming got better, especially the back stroke which can be tiring like hell yet such a joy when completed; thanx to Tinku-Pinku too, who gave a party which we all enjoyed greatly; had a word with Ranazi after a long while; UD's joining is here - well almost; Rajdeep is finally 'settled' at TCIL along with Valun; cleared out stuff with Harleen; Ankit too enjoyed his holidaying stint in Bangalore; Sameep must be having a good time at IIT-Kharagpur and Sariyu too is hoping to get Bio-Tech in a grt college soon - wish him luck; someone's got lucky and m happy as hell for her ;) Anju is getting better and better at sketching with each passing day ... phew... of course all this is amidst high drama and ome negative things too which happened as a part of life but I'd rather not share them here for many reasons, yet primarily coz it's a waste of time. Anyways, let's get back to a few more positives - Teacherji had a great b'day :D ; things are getting better on some fronts for me which were messed up till now, and yeah, focussing on positives has just gained more importance than ever before, especially at a time when bomb blasts have scarred my country and left us all seething with anger... never mind the long queues and intense checking at Rajeev Chowk Metro Station today. M in not exactly the forgetful mode here especially with my anger and the grudges, but just want to tell my YDI ppl to smile away everyday coz that's what we were doing when we together in the college, and now strewn around the globe in a few days from now, somewhere some part of us will miss the times when the highs and lows of life were faced together... :)

Myriad hues

Yippieeeeee.... Swam the entire length in the deep with breathing, without any problem and also was able to do floating with much more ease though the lethargy seems to get the better of you once you have practiced a few times in shallow waters. Anyways, had a short yet fun day with Anju and Billo rani :p The Barista crap was the most enjoyable stuff throughout the day, and we are looking forward to tommorow, i.e someone's birthday, who truly deserves all the happiness in the world :) ... and Delhi is throwing up a plethora of beaooooootiful skyscapes throughout the day. It started raining while we were buying the stuff, i.e between the sunshine before and after. Hahaha... passing by FMS reminded me of Rajdeep. Bohat time ho gaya usse gaaliyaan diye hue ... lolz!! Hope he is doing great in Mumbai. Damn, m gonna miss all this soon, but when the heck is Infy gonna send the call???? God, help plz!

Change...

Change...

Coming back from Kapil's place yesterday, a lot of things were noticed on my way back. Firstly I walked all the way from Moolchand to INA market, as the weather was quite good and I was alone, Pinak had left in some bus he got for Rajouri. I was enjoying everything on my way, from the ever changing facades of the malls to me left, to the high number of imported cars that I got to stare at on my way ;) Where else but South Delhi can you see them? Airplanes were hovering above us, coming from the Dwarka side while taking off, as the directions have been changed, and needless to say it was a great sight. The Underpass just before AIIMS flyover was quite good to look at, while passing it by on the footpath and I decided that instead of going straight to the Safdurjung Hospital bus stand, i'd rather take a sybway and go towards the INA market one , in hopes of getting a seat in 588, coz while coming in the morning towards Kapil's home, me and Anuj faced a hell of a crowded bus-ride, all the time very conscious of our wallet and phone. Haha! And I was in no mood to go all the way to Tilak Nagar while standing in the crowd which would swamp the busy 588 route from the Safdurjung Hospital side.

And so I got to walk along, what I beleive, is the most beautiful flyover project of Delhi. the Rajeev Gandhi Setu, far better known as the Safdurjung-AIIMS flyover. And far beyond that I could see the cranes of Delhi Metro, the exciting views of it's tunnels I was lucky to watch in the afternoon bus ride. Was I happy all the way or what? All the damn tiredness went out of me like anything. Anyways, got the bus, didn;t get the seat till about a minute, but was enjoying the view outside. Thankfully it turned out to be not to crowded a bus! The impressive facdes of Mahavir Mediial College were great to watch, so was the Trauma Centre building next to it, but while we were crossing a flyover at South Africa Avenue, I noticed something below. The cars which were waiting at the red light were all beyond the 'STOP' signal painted on the road. A pleasant change to watch, especially because everytimje I travel to Dwarka, call centre cabs are a speeding lot and people just don't waitn for green lights too at the further ends of the sub-city as it does not have much traffic. Another change was that all bus stops along the Ring Road have been changed to that international look, yet the FOB work near the RK Puram Sector 12 bus stand looked long abandoned, I dunno why. Yesterday, the most welcome change was definitely the weather, as it rained for the first time in July, after a wet June, and today it was again one of the best weather days in Delhi. While passing through Cantt. road, the FOB was fully functional now, and the greenery on both sides of the narrow arterial road was truly a sight. While coming from Dhaula Kuan side and entering the Cntt. road, if you go just a few kilometres ahead, you must notice house no. 6 on the left, on the gates of which is written "Dog is Ok, Beware of the owner". The first time we noticed it was with Ankush, while going to the MJA classes. LMAO!

There was this guy standing next to the door. who amusingly spit out his chewing gum while the bus was in motion.Minutes later, when he was supposed to get off at the Lajwanti flyover, instead of going to the front door, he was standing at he back one, almost holding his head out, when the bus conductor who was sitting right ahead spitted the paan out, and it almost got on this guy's face. Haha! I am sure he must have been wondering then about what he did, even as the bus conductor was at least good to the point of looking back to see if any motorist would come in the way of his paan supari spit! The Lajwanti ROB is the worst of all, and reminded you of how bumpy Delhi's rides used to be all over, long time back. Anyways, each time it rains, the roofs of all the Metro stations get cleared of dust and all and pose a fresh sight. And I must mention that each time we were passing a flyover on the Ring Road, civic sense amongst the motorists was quite admirable as seen from the top, with the usual flouters too making a mark. I just love Delhi all the more, with each passing day, yet I want to move out asap because of the job thing too, and reasons better left out of all this. The greenery is increasing and weather is so welcoming these days, seems like God is gifting us GTBITians a few moments to cherish forever, that is before we leave for our jobs. Kapil's house too was very beautiful from the inside, what with it's raw and earthen appeal which reminded me of my Grandparents house in Patiala, as both had a central courtyard which one could see from all directions, once on the first floor. The spaces in the walls to keep stuff, the old style upported roofs and the windows were all reminiscent of an era gone by. And his 'Mamaji' Akash was just like me when it came to going on and on about the developmental things in Delhi, for once I kept shut and enjoyed having to listen to someone who was like me, only to see that he too was made to shut up in sort-of the same way as these people make me do, when I don't stop lauding the Metro etc. I have just enjoyed the rains which lashed Delhi once again, with a steaming cup of tea of course.

I was thinking about a lot of other things and changes that I noticed yesterday, in the now elusive long bus rides, thanx to the metro of course, but then, I'd rather go out right now and enjoy the awesome weather... :)

I love TV...

urWell! One of the best things about the on-going 'vacations' is that I can catch up with so much on TV. Just got back after watching the Ellen Degeneres show, and as was expected, loved it all the way till the end. In the initial minutes she had already told her studio audience that they were gonna be treated to a tete-a-tete` with who else, but Will Smith!!!
   Lucky them! Then she gets a letter in her mails section, by an avid fan who asks her to decide for him which show he should watch, her show or the Oprah Winfrey show, as both of'em were being telecast at the same time at the place where he lived, joking about the fact that the batteries of his remote control were running out fast as he would try to switch channels at every chance he got. And if you expected Ellen to play diplomacy games, you were just so damn wrong!! She bluntly said that she got Will Smith, obviosuly her show ought to be seen, and more-over we saw this great clip of Oprah herself having appeared on Ellen's show, and recommending Ellen's show all the way, to which Ellen quoted that "see... Oprah herself told you to watch my show!!" Lol! That lady has got a seriously kewl sense of humour. And then I saw probably the most hilarious conversation in a long time as Will Smith came out in full force with his witty and humorous answers. Haha! Will Smith rox... Period.
     Towards the end of the show Elen had this Miami vacation to gift away to two of her audience members, of course from the studio itself. The two ladies were supposed to answer 4 simple questions which Ellen would ask them, by grabbing a coconut first which lay in fron tof them on a table and, oh yeah, this thing was called something like Co-Co Nuts, Go-Go Nuts... :p The questions were wayyyyy too simple, more than you can imagine and let's not get into discussing the IQ's of our American counterparts. The whole thing turbned out to be more funny than anything else, with the Black lady getting a clear win after the very first question, and then going on never to give a chance to her White rival, who was acting shocked at her speed!! Lol... They were soon fighting over the coconut and did we have a laugh or what! Well, to their surprise both of them won the vacation give-away thing and this got them dancing like anything. I wonder if obese Indian women would break into anything like a jig after having won even a crore on the slew of reality TV contest these days. Damn! And hey, if anybody noticed, Will Smith was seen sitting throughout the show with one leg crossed above the other, wonder what my college mates have to say to that, since they so commented on my sitting in the same way to be girlish! Seriously now...
   Last night's episode of NDTV's Jassuben turned out to be both heart-warming and extremely funny. The way firstly 3 of the brothers in the family turned out to wish their mentally undergrown brother Raju (a husband and a father as well), on the first day of his first job in life, was just.. too much tha ji :p And then Pankor-ba's rock steady rudeness melting away at Raju's innocence laden request, and the way she blessed him was both funny and nice. Though it was a sight to see her messed up after Pushpa carelessly threw 20 damn kgs of flour on her, and the ensuing barrage of her shrewish demeanour was a treat. All of us just couldn't stop laughing. Jassuben Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family is unarguably the best thing to have ever happened to  Indian TV in a f*****g long time, especially after having had to bear the 'K' for Krap, which turned out to be the vangaurd of sickening shows on all TV channels. Even Star One lost it's original touch with which it banged onto the screens and our minds as well, only to fizzle out to re-runs of Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai (another tremendous satirical comedy) etc. NDTV imagine should get something even more than a Filmfare  or an Oscar equivalent for bringing us this seriously sensible family comedy. The best dailogue of the previous episode was of course... "aur Pankor bhabhi ko lagta hai ki ghar wo chala rahi hain..." And in case you expect me write what and how about it, please go to http://www.ndtvimagine.com/dailyschedule.aspx#top and look for Omnibus: Jassuben Jayantilal... timings, so that you too can have a hearty laugh and get addicted to a good TV serial in a long time to have happened to Indian primetime.

Hot chocolate can wait....

Had a grrrrrrt day at CP! Thanking Babaji for ending the crappy engineering thing and that too with somewhat good marks (yeah right)! Whatever! What can be more good news than returning home after having a good time in the heart of the city, and getting to hear the news that mother dear has brought this tub of ice cream, that too chocolate wali? Haha! Save for the screwed up piece of my left foot which wouldn't end paining like hell throughout the day, I enjoyed almost everything, though when i blurted while watching Bipasha Basu in a shimmering red apparel, donned for some perfume ad, that 'She knows how to act hot... she can act hot!!!', the McD staffer overheard me and shook his head... :P And I didn't care a bit. Why the hell should I? Bipasha is seriously one hot lady, and you should have seen her on the cover of second issue of Indian Grazia magazine. Whoa! I enjoyed the tid-bits and stuff that I learnt from thiS month's Filmfare at the book shop though, brought back memories of the old Filmfare format, which i started buying 10 years back (and was reprimanded for it, never to stop though), coz this one had less crap and more substance than most of the ones which were churned out under the latest editor. I hope it continues, though I hoped I could buy it too, specifically for the article on Sanjeev Kumar - I loved his work in Khilona which i was able to watch completely only after the engineering mess ended. Damn! Ghoom fir ke engineering aa jati hai beech mein!!! And yeah, having just finished the mouthful remnant (:p) of chocolate ice-cream, I have been able to alleviate my craving for hot chocolate, for some time at least... which shot up after watching the Juliette Binoche starrer Chocolat (2000, good movie)... Hot chocolate can wait!!!

Up, up and away...

Getting up at 5 in the morning after like eons, turned out to be a great experience!! The morning looked wonderful, with hopes of a cloudy day, now thwarted by the already glistening sunshine, I hope the rest of the day turns out just fine enough, with the thanks-giving trip (:p) to Bangla Sahib and the ensuing food-hunting march in CP, coz i don wanna burn a hole in my pocket like the last time, thanx to a few assholes who think that just because they got some good cash, so does everyone else, and then some (rather most) of us have to return home feeling as hungry and thirsty as hell! Haha! Ignorance... thy name are 'friends'! lol! M gonna watch either Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and/or Love Story 2050, obviously at Waves, Rajouri only coz that is the only movie hall in the city where my legs get some room to move around and not stay stuck up when the one in front of me reclines his/her own chair. Hahaha! Satyam cinemas suck, so do PVR when it comes to leg room for those who are above 6 feet tall. Whatever, for now m juz looking forward to spending the day with the other 3 in CP and having a grrrrreat time :)

Quote of the day :O

"People shouldn't say shit about something they don't know much about..." ;)

Warming , weather.... whatever... :p

The weather in Delhi is just soooo awesome these days, that one is forced to get out of their houses and enjoy the rains to the core! And in a long time came such a beautiful evenings in such succession that you just have to love the summer of Delhi '08, at least way uptill now.

While going to the class 2 days back, the clouds came out in full force this side of the city, and i got drenched as if i had gone into a pool woth all my clothes on! Loved it :) Though no swimming happened, haha, yet I enjoyed getting all wet in the rain in a loooong time. The only dampener was the irritating feelings of wearing shoes wiht socks, which I totally hate yet had to bear all my way back home. Anyways, I hope you too enjoyed the awesome weather, though my friends from the north-west part od Delhi were deprived of a downpour and had to do with just awesome clouds hovering above them. Pity you... haha! Have fun... ;)

Delhi Police sucks!

While on my way back from some work in C-Block Janakpuri, I chose to walk my way inside the Janakpuri District Park. While going towards that place, I noticed a lot of young couples sitting on the benches, amongst the crowd of senior citizens and familes who were out with the children to have a good time. But on my way back, around 8:20 pm, i noticed that most of the park was dark due to poor lighting, save for the area near the food stalls. And there were mostly couples cozing up to each other in the garb of darkness. While going through one such dark stretch, i noticed these two policemen who were standing with a couple, and while passing them by, i overheard the policeman say to the girl: "should I call your parents?" to which the girl replied in a shaky voice "Please don't do it uncle! Please forgive me!".

I was like what the F? The couple seemed to be from not too well off families, another reason why they must have been targetted. I don't know what happened to them or how much bribe they had to pay to that asshole, but just 10 metres ahead of me I noticed another couple in the dark, who were discussing things in not exactly a low voice. I just told them to move and they thanked me and immediately got to their feet. I guess the ones sitting in the well-lit area must have been spared, because according to these shitheads the couple must have been behaving "inappropriately" in the dark, as is their statement to the media all the time! Where the hell should lovers go just to meet each other and not be recognized?

Just yesterday, my friend had accompanied his mates. Now it so happens that he used to drink, but had totally (as he said) stopped it. He just accompanied them to their booze session, and while they were sitting in the parking area, inside a car, a policeman came around and started harassing them. With the recent stupid rules related to booze that were "amended", the policeman had a great time harassing my friend and his mates. He asked for a bribe containing some fancy liquor brand itself! That was highly expensive, around Rs. 2000. Obviously the bunch of them told him that they didn't have this much money. He kept harassing them till he got away with Rs. 1000, and my friend who had just 200 in his pocket, had to go home totally empty, and wrthing in anger that even though he had stopped drinking, eh still had to go through such stuff.

Delhi's policemen are way too clever to round up soft targets. I'll never forget the day when that ACP took away our car on Anuj-Pinak's birthday, while our car was in no way causing a traffic jam or anything, on that hell-of-a-wide road! To top it all, his own car stayed put at the same place, and just as everyone went away from the Maruti 800 for barely 10 seconds, the car was being towed away. That fucked up ACP or whatever, never even warned us to stay put with the car else it would be towed away, and this when he is a public servant. The biggest irony of it all was that scores of other cars were parked there, but since they were all pricier models, they weren't targeted because of obvious reasons that they might belong to some rich man with 'connections'. And 800 is the fine for such an offence! Wow! I remember when such a drive was being conducted at Tilak Nagar market, one traffic policeman was repeatedly asking his senior whether he should tow away the SUV Scorpio, or the Suzuki Alto parked beyond it. The fact that they were scared of anyone owning an SUV turning out to be a big shot was of a high probability, made them go to the soft target again. The Scorpio wasn't touched! BC! Delhi Police sucks. Period.

long time no 's'-ee

  Have just recovered after a long spate of 'stuff' going around. Anyways, haven't been able to make a sketch in a looong time. It is so damn exhausting, i hardly feel like taking up the pencial and starting anything. That day i was surfing the channels and got to watch the Meryl Streep starrer Devil Wears Prada, and there was this hell of a beauty, Mercedes Benz S class, the never ending sedan which had me hooked. It was sooooo damn awesome, i mean i had seen it's pix all over the net but to see it in motion was wooowww!! :p

The Indian site of Volvo has some amazing videos of all the cars on display and once i get one of them loaded, i just keep staring at those videos for minutes together. Anyways, i have finally been able to watch Lakshya in one go and that gave me one more reason to become a fan of Hrithik Roshan, and Preity Zinta alike! Sometimes you end up feeling like stars deserve all the overloaded pay packets they command... and with that they can buy any car of their choice... lucky them :p Hrithik's got a Porsche Cayanne in his stable. I didn't like it untill one day i saw a black colored one whizz past me on Ring Road. Haha!

Congrats to Indian politicians!!

   My heartiest congratulations to all the Indian politicians in wake of the recent Gujjar stir that has been seething in various parts of the country now, and just yesterday reached te capital, Delhi. Seems like all their efforts of dividing the country, in keeping with the British colonisation, are paying off finally. The Gujjar's in Rajasthan are up the govt.'s arses, trying to forcibly gain ST status to get reservation benefits. At the same time, the Meena community, which enjoys the status exclusively in Rajasthan, are totally against it for obvious reasons of not having to share their benefits with any other community. Want something more interesting? The Gujjars constitute only 6% of Rajasthan votebank, and the Meenas constitute 12%. Haha! Poor poor Vasundhara Raje, she thought she could get away with false promises made to Gujjars... and now the Gujjars are truing to hold the whole North India to ransom, with support from Kashmiri counterparts having recntly come in.
    I had recently read somewhere that reservation had to be strategically phased out from India, after all the so called backward communities would be raised in status and blah blah shit. I don't see that happening in my lifetime at least. Somewhere down in Southern India, politicians are trying to push past the 50% upper limit of quotas, once again for votebank politics of course. Just today, there was this inset in one of the Gujjar voilence related reports that now the Meena community from Madhya Pradesh wants ST status. Hahaha! I seriously hope more such communties rise up pretty big and pretty soon (pretty voilent will come naturally with it), so that not just the Indian politicians, the whole damn world gets a free show of how votebank politics and divide-and-rule comes to haunt the very people who tried exploiting it to the hilt , thrived on it and didn't see all of this coming. 39 lives have been lost in the Gujjar stir till now, but I won't be surprised if the numbers rise exponentially, what with all the 'backward class' people standing up and demanding this and that. All the best to Indian politicians and I hope that these communities nail their asses to the wall ....
   Just a doubt - the Gujjars have stopped virtually the entire North India in it's tracks, students had to miss their career marking exams, pregnant women couldn't reach a safe and careful place, innocent lives have been lost, Railways have suffered immensely, so has the workforce of tourism industry, and with all the barricades put up by these people everywhere - whoever said they were backward?Any answers......

Night out @ Ranazeee... :p

         Have just returned aftre spending a night at Rana's. yup! he was back, pretty well and pretty soon. And needless to say, he was constantly abused for acting like a jerk and leaving everyone midway, and running away from all of the friends to a place hundreds of kilometres away. And all these guys got drunk, save for me and Rajdeep who won't dare touch alcohol! And as usual Kapil the great was taking potshots at each an everyone. Kapil baba ki jai ho... he not only made us all have great fun, especially at the expense of 2 personalities, but also talked sense most of the time, noticeably when he was making another one of those efforts to make Anuj understand why he should reduce his drinking.
      At the same time, I wanted to ask Anuj just one question; as the only child of his parents, he said that the reason for his increased drinking in the past few days was the fact that he felt alone. This is a guy, who is the most close to each and everyone (the genuine ones) in the YDI group, and everyone has come to share everything with him only because all of us know how much friendship means to him: it means above everything else to this hell of a cartoon network in flesh and blood. If he so f!@#$%g cares about his friends, why the heck can't he stop/reuce his drinking, even as everyone feels the closest to him? He talks about how his life would suffer as and when all of us move away to our respective workplaces in a few months. What about us Anuj? What if something happens to you and we are left suffering forever? As usual, he won't listen...
         As for Kapil, he was the one making Anuj understand the ill-effects of booze, and he himself has been puffing away heavily all this while. The only respite in his case is that he doesn't do it each time feeling sentimental, and he is still willed enough to be able to control himself as and when needed. At least that's what appears to me. Even he has been countlessly told to stop smoking, yet he doesn't. I still remember his words from another night out at Rana's, where he said that he wants to listen from the doctor, that he must either quit it or die. When he'll reach that brink, only then will he stop it.
          Meanwhile, Varun aka Valun was at the recieving end of numerous sarcastic comments by Kapil and I must say that we hadn't had this much fun in one single night, in a long time. The amazing thing was none of us felt sleepy till about 5:30 am, and this since UD had got heavily drunk and ended up a total mess, he was the one who was forcibly put to rest first of all, around 3 I guess. Worse, he won't even remember one f!@#$%g thing about all that happened with him... rather us handling him! For the first time he scared the shit out of me and I am extremely angry to say the least. Screw Stryker, and screw Rajdeep's words. All of you started behaving like total jerks with your booze shit. Thanx to Ankit, I could pass some time ... rather thanx to his I-phone ;) A lot more remains to be said, but I guess it would be better to say it on their faces for once, than venting my anger out on my blog...

Anuj's sketch...

It was due since that fateful day, which ironically was his birthday too. Only those who were there know why i am saying fateful... (screw you delhi police :x) and though i am not too happy with this sketch of his, i hope i'll be able to bring a smile on this cute hippo, the cartoon network and soon to be ... well that's a secret he'll be sharing with all only after tmmorow! Just hope he liked it :)

Khushboo's songs...

Was listening to the songs of Khushboo today, some of them are pretty good. Have already written an article on http://bollywoodtadka.com soon! The new girl is pretty too ;) Songs of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Aamir are out too, but more than these two i am waiting for the songs of Haale-e-dil. The title track composed by Vishal Bhardwaj is awesome as far as the promos are concerned!

At Rajdeep's

Well day before day before yesterday (:p) was a beaoootiful day. The rains were good, like for the past four days and more and till noon, sunlight was rarely seen. I loved it. Took the stuff from Nikhil's. Bihar Singh was there too , haha! He has gone to his home and won't be back till the 1st of June. Well i headed for Anuj's place at around 12 i guess, and wasn't expecting a silver BMW z-series to come and start honking right behind the bus which i was trying to board till Uttam Nagar Terminal. My eyes popped out as usual cause rarely have i seen such costly pieces of exceptional engineering in an area like Tilak Nagar. The last time saw one was about 10 weeks back, when a white Nissan 2-door convertible quietly passed by me on Jail Road, and it was a-w-e-s-o-m-e! Don't know the name of the model though. Well the honking by the BMW was arrogant attitude of a super-rich either trying to get your attention or just telling you that with that bomb of a package it deserved every inch of road space and your gaze as well. And it couldn;t be more ironical for me, who was always growing up dreaming of buying the ultimate in power, style and engineering yet was boarding a rickety unfamous killer Blueline of Delhi. But then it struck me, that all this while i have been trying to fulfill a dream which will ensure this and a lot more, and that honking was just another signal for me, a reminder that "hey dude! you want me? don't give up..." sad yet true and meaningful! Thanx Babaji for that shining peice of reminder.
Anyways, I luckily got a seat in 883, which i wasn't expecting because of the damn crowded buses i usually saw on this route. And all this while waiting for the delicious lunch prepared by Anuj's mom was worth it, worth everrrry second of it. The lunch was awesome!! Burrrppp!!! hahaha! And thankfully Udit too joined us. Gaurav had said it perfectly back then that UD was the most (and maybe the only) guy to be missed that day on his birthday party. So right! And guess what? Rajdeep turns up over an hour late, that too minus the photographs. Ullu ka ... forcibly took me to his home, where he played the monster of an elder brother to kiddo Gurpratap! heheh! Damn shithead, doesn't even know as much about his brother about computers :p Jugaadu engineer!!! hahah! And once again, i enjoyed one of the most tasty dinners ever, all thanks to his mom again, (none to him, even if I was dragged along due to his mistake :p). We, as usual, discussed the ups and downs in our lives , and while he was talking to Robin (because i have free calling on Vodafone), i fell asleep and how! Lame ass, wasn;t even ready to get up and close the door behind me while I was leaving. And thankfully, we have posted the stuff, even as it will reach right on the last day. Enjoyed the view of Metro's construction near Inderlok junction on the way back,and the new Volvo dealership at Moti Nagar too. Babaji, jaldi se ek Volvo dila do yaar! :p Right now i am cursing Sify, and preparing all the posts i can, so that whatever little blessed minute Sify will provide me, I'll have to use them to the hilt. Anuj was soon coming over, and had ordered me to make nimbupaani..:p Pichli baar pilaya tha, itna vaahiyaat tha!! :p

Sify Broadband sux!

The internet service of Sify and only Sify has to go kaput each time Delhi faces a thunderstorm or showers, while all the rest of my friends enjoy the uninterrupted services of Airtel etc. And Sify has the worst servie too, the connection just fails to provide you the requisite speed, especially when you need it the most. I have finally got my connection back after 5 f!@#$% days ... sify people should have a crashed train's pic on their login tabs, instead of a bullet train!

whats with blogger... and Infy... and these friends...

the time below all my posts is appearing almost 12 hours behind, dunno what's the problem!! anyways, i am looking forward to meeting Anuj, Nikhil, Gaurav, Robin and i am not looking forward to meeting Rajdeep today.. hahaha!
i sooo wanna join Infosys only but with the recession in U.S and the ramifications of that being the delayed joining dates of fresh engineering graduates, i am feeling so screwed. the problem is nothing more that the fact that my family doesn't want me to be sitting around for long, since we are in the midst of our own itsy-bitsy financial issues. hell! i myself don't want to stay in Delhi anymore, and i just hope that the joining isn;t as delayed as May 2009, the words which some one from 04 batch spread around. Infosys' campus is too tempting to let me go somewhere else.. and the irony of it all is that today i am going to fill the form of not just that major Oil company, but also the Stryker recruiters! (who could be more confused?) well i dunno what to do! guess, i'll just screw up the exam so that i dont get thru... as if i am hopeful of getting thru! :p again confused!!!
amidst all this is the dream which i returned to after more than a decade, coz back then it wasn't just possible. but just when i thought everything is in my favour, the glut in that sector starts making waves throwing cold water on my plans. but since i haven't stopped dreaming, i just hope i'll finally, someday and somehow get in there!!! can't wait anymore :( i just love the idea of sharing most, if not all, of my thoughts on this blog. it's so damn easy and the topic wouldn't steer away from the baseline, though it would if i would be discussing this with either Rajdeep or Robin, coz it generally does.
talking about Rajdeep, he is seriously a shitty person, coz of the way he's been behaving ever since the engineering (re: friendship) ended. the dog says he's preparing himself for living without us all, by severing all contacts with us. f u! but if there is one person i totally enjoy being with these days, it's Anuj, the cartoon network. i can't believe that i actually got upset with his antics long time back. i just feel blessed to have him though. same is the case with Supriya and Nikhil, though both of them are screwed up too, in their own ways :p
    the pic above, from one of  our last days in college is seriously funny. Anuj and Sup are picture perfect nuts :p

Its raining again :)

Lord Indra is seriously generous these days... Last night, at around 10:15, strong winds started blowing and were followed by a light no-on-now-off showers till the wee hours, and right  now, it's 6:35 am and it has started raining again... awesome man! Considering the fact that i have to go out today to get those drafts made, i'll be more than happy to set out. The above picture is from a a few days back, 14th May actually,  when the sky went dark at 10 am! And Nikhil ans Supriya were in no mood to give that exam, which had just started at the same time... haha! They didn't leave the examination hall, but I guess I would definitely have left... :)

Great articles... love you TOI

Times Of India's Delhi edition had these really awesome articles (as usual) on the editorial today , pg no. 26 , but i loved the way both Gurcharan Das and Jug Suraiya presented their takes on the same issue, the screwed up BRT corridor in South Delhi. Jug Suraiya is soooo funny!
  Another complete page which made for a great read was pg no. 20, especially the story by Jyoti Punwani about a Muslim man who brought up 2 girls as Hindus. And on the very next page you'll find something that you'll never forget, Brigido Viggiano slum tour experience in the largest slum of Asia, the Dharavi slums of Mumbai. Be ready, coz your ideas (especially negative ones) are  about to go for a toss, more so towards the third column. Right above it is your claim-to-shame, an article on Indian dont's embossed into do's of their daily lives by Priyanko Sarkar, and the Politics of Chhat, by Mohammed Wajihuddin, another great one.
   I loved the words by MJ Akbar, whose new column 'Crescents and Croissants' started today, on pg 8, especially the last para, which is a fitting sentence to make you feel good. Both Mr. Akbar and Ms. Brigido's articles made a statement about India's great secularism, which is these days at the hands of screwed up politicians, yet comes up strongly each time they play divide-and-rule like during the British colonisation.
   P.S - India rocks, and so does Times Of India!!! :)

must-read quote!!

"tears can be more special than smile, for smiles can be given to anyone but tears are shed for people we love"

so true!

Gaurav's sketch :)

"arre tum bhi aaye ho??" :p - Gaurav's pet dialogue

he is one of those guys whose attitude has perhaps never changed all this while i have known him. Gaurav's smile rarely goes missing and i had wanted to sketch him for long, and after a failed half hearted attempt, some success has been achieved. special thanx to my facebook friends Ethan Derry and Daryl Batan, and loads of other amazing photographers and artists like Daryl Batan and Ani Habib for encouraging me simply through their awesome work. you guys rock! period. coming up - Anuj's sketch!!

i am back... and happy :)

well, i am back and feeling really happy! this despite a spat with an old 'friend' yesterday, as she thinks she rules the world, but this was probably the first time in a long while when the aftermath of what happened, didn't hover above my head all this while. i was more at ease with some1 else's f@#$%d up piece of shit, than anything else. moreover, since engineering ended officially the day before yesterday, i was back to a promise which i had made to myself: of coming back to sketching big time. i sketched gaurav, freestyle (i.e without using the graph), and was happy with the result. more so because when i had started making his sketch, the left half didn't quite look like him, and i was extremely doubtful if this would turn out to be a good one, or a botched up version, like the first time i sketched robin. another thing i was happy about was that i had managed to do justice to the lips part of the sketch coz that's what i make worst as was the case with dilpreet's sketch. and guess what was the inspiration behind it all? the amazing works of persons like ani habib and daryl batan etc. which they had posted on the facebook group. my work is zilch compared to them! and ani habib is just wow!

anyways, we enjoyed big time at rana's place though missed udit big time. it would surely have been more fun to have him around, and a few dragons to slay (who didn't turn up un/-fortunately) hahaha! the monk who sold his ferrari rules my head even now and i wonder what all i can do with the power that i have got now. the book is so great that yesterday while i was having an exchange of words with an ungrateful idiot, i kept my calm effortlessly. even though it pains to know that some1 you have always thought of as a friend and cared about, has tried to spill over her screwed up messes into your life, it feels happy to know that the picture is clear now. ha! and what an awesome weather it was yesterday. i still remember what kinda heat we had to face last summer, and there was hardly any substantial rain till this time of the year in 2007. but 2008 has turned out to be good if not great so far, as far as the weather goes. i love rains coz firstly they bring the temperature down of not just the sorroundings but also of many people around you and secondly, when someone wants to cry without being noticed, try the rains! pour your heart out and trust me, you'll feel a lot better.

the impact of the fact that yaari dosti incorporate, my group which i named so painstakingly (yeah right!), is going to be dispersed big time, hit me hard right on the 15th. i still can't get it down well, but as they say: everything will be fine! my site is back to work, bollywoodtadka.com, and i have just finished my work in an effort to try and meet the greatest human being to inspire me in life, Mr. E. Sreedharan, the MD of Delhi Metro. i just hope i am able to do what i have planned. and yeah! all the talk on this blog, i am not gonna discuss with most of you ppl who are a part of my personal life, so you can bitch and 'bhau' behind my back with all the due permission. lol! for i just wanna enjoy a pasted inner smile :)
