Rain drops

Now that one of the best monsoons in the history of Delhi is seemingly over, here I am posting a poem which I had written on 19th March 07 (for those who know the importance of the date). A friend came out of the interview room and said that as she had written 'poetry' in the hobbies section of her resume`, she was asked to recite one. Since I too had written the same at that time, but hadn't really memorized anything, I made this one up in a haste...

they fall down with the thunder
while i stand under...
under them i recall my moments...
my moments which make me wonder...
i wonder about my painful past...
a past that pains me beyond tolerance
i wish the drops would wash away the pain
a free soul, i'd like to gain...
but i gained a heart full of guilt
the flashes of lightning make me blink
i close my eyes and my heart sinks
the violent wind rustles up my hair
i don't know why i exist here
when the eyes swell, the vision blurs
but it doesn't fade the agony away...
then the tears mix with the raindrops and
i take heart, for someone weeps with me...
